What Is IVF?
IVF is a procedure in which a woman’s eggs can be fertilized outside of her body. People turn to IVF to help conceive when they are unable to become pregnant through natural or conservative methods.
IVF is one of the most commonly performed procedures at our facilities.
How Does IVF Work?
In simple terms, IVF follows these steps:
- A woman is given fertility drugs that stimulate the ovaries to produce multiple eggs.
- When the eggs are mature, an injection is administered to trigger ovulation.
- The mature eggs are retrieved using special ultrasound-guided techniques.
- In a lab setting, the harvested eggs are fertilized using sperm from a partner or donor.
- When the eggs have developed into embryos, they are transferred back to the woman to achieve pregnancy.

If you are concerned about your age and if IVF is right for you, our doctors can help you consider the various risks and health factors before you make your decision. There are also alternatives to IVF that may be better suited to your situation and stage in life.
