I am the founder of the Center for Fertility and Gynecology at Tarzana, California, and later, the laboratory, in-vitro fertilization laboratory called Assisted Reproductive Technologies or ART in Encino, California. I completed my fellowship in infertility at the University of Southern California. At the time when this discipline of in-vitro fertilization was just emerging, and I was fascinated by this particular new branch of medicine, and for the past 40 years have been witnessing and taking part in the development in this field.
In my military service, when I was 18-years-old, I served as a medic, taking care of sick and wounded soldiers, and at that time, I realized that medicine was my calling, and that's how I ended up going to medical school. I went to Bologna, Italy, and then to Tel Aviv, Israel, where I completed my medical school. Had my residency in Chicago, and my fellowship in infertility at the University of Southern California, where I also stayed after that as a full-time faculty as an associate professor.
I find what I do in treating couples with infertility and related issues fascinating, and that I can really make a difference. Make an impact on their lives in the most significant way. Helping people who suffer from medical conditions in general and in our discipline in infertility specifically, that gives me a great deal of satisfaction in seeing that we solve most of their problems, and being able to impact their life in a most significant way.
