To choose a donor, intended parent, they can choose a known donor or anonymous egg donor. What is important in term of how we evaluate the donor, the donor has to go through extensive screening, including a physical evaluation, also transvaginal ultrasound, genetic screening, and psychologic evaluation.
The first part to choose a proper donor usually takes the longest. After we choose a proper donor for the intended parents, we guide them to have a legal agreement or contract with the donor. And when we have everything prepared, we start the stimulation of the ovaries. We give the medications to the donor, harvest the egg, and fertilize the egg with the sperm of the partner, create the embryos, and if necessary, we can perform genetic screening on the embryos, and freeze or bank the embryos.
The most important thing about egg donation cycle is usually one cycle can result in multiple embryos that the intended parents they can use those embryos for future pregnancies. In our center, we have about 80% pregnancy rate with egg donation cycles, which is very successful and very high, and compared to different treatment options.
