Melissa: Hello. My name is Melissa Burton. I'm the embryology lab manager for Assisted Reproductive Technologies Medical Group here in Encino, California. I help to manage the lab and keep everything running. I'm also a senior embryologist. So I also assist with the procedures that you'll be coming to our lab for and welcome to our lab. So when you first arrive for your procedure, you're going to come in and check in with our wonderful receptionist here.
Woman: Hello, how's it going?
Melissa: And then she'll get you ready for your procedure and let's continue on with the tour. Okay. So this is our main procedure room here. This is where we perform our egg retrievals and our embryo transfers. The physician will collect your eggs here, and then the embryologist will search for your eggs in the fluid.
So this is our andrology room here. This is where we prepare all of the sperm, and this is the equipment for that sperm preparation. We also store your eggs, sperm, and embryos in these liquid nitrogen tanks here. We can store them for as long as you need until you're ready to use the sample. To keep everyone's samples safe we have an alarm system that all of our tanks are connected to. It's wirelessly connected, so if there's any fluctuation in temperature, we get notified 24/7, 7 days a week, 365.
So we have state-of-the-art equipment here in our cleanroom. This is where we will take your eggs after the retrieval and actually inseminate them and create embryos. We will culture the embryos until we're ready to use them or freeze them here in our lab.
We've recently installed the RI Witness electronic witnessing system. It is in place to track and monitor your patient sample from start all the way to finish. We are one of the first labs in the U.S. to install this new technology in order to guarantee the safety of your specimen.
